I am looking for the parents of Hezekiah Reynolds, Sr., born in what is now Watertown, CT on July 4, 1756 (at that time, it was the parish of Westbury), both suburbs of Waterbury. He was listed in Conn. Rev. War Records for 1776 in Roxbury, CT. He married Martha Davenport Wolcott, part of a well-known CT family, in 1778 in North Branford, CT, and he died in 1833 and is buried next to her and other members of their family in Wallingford, CT. They had nine children and the house he built for them in North Branford is currently the home for the local historical society. The various local historical societies have no records of his parents.

Notably, he was the author of "Directions for House and Ship Painting; shewing in a plain and concise manner, the best method of preparing, mixing and laying the best colours now in use, designed for use of learners", New Haven, printed by Eli Hudson, 1812. This is one of the early books written by an American artisan explaining their craft.

I am a descendant of Electious Reynolds and Mary Pease. I have a second Reynolds line in my family for Jeremiah Reynolds, and have never been able to find his parents.

Today on Family Search, I found a record that says he was the son of Jeremiah Braley and Charity Reynolds. His siblings (who were all older than him) had the surname Braley. How would Jeremiah’s surname be Reynolds? I know that Sue Clement’s Reynolds line connected with this Braley line, so I’m hoping you can help me figure this out. My Jeremiah’s surname was definitely Reynolds. He was married to Nancy Stillson. I come from their daughter, Eliza, who married Chauncey Reynolds. (Chauncey’s line takes me up to Electious and Mary.) Jeremiah was later married to Rebecca Foster.

Thanks or any help you can give,
Maria Reynolds

I would like a photo from the Reynolds Family Card Files of Rev. James Reynolds (1771-1837), son of Reuben. I'm responding to a DAR request for more information on a supplemental. I'm showing that information for the John and Sarah of Greenwich, CT published genealogy was based on info collected from descendants through letters and family reunions beginning in the 1890s. I'm trying to prove the link between James and his father Reuben, the patriot. Few baptism records for 1771 survived the Brits in Greenwich, CT.
