Gunn Born in 1747, probably at Barnstable, Massachusetts, Ely Reynolds enlisted as a Private in the 4th Regiment of the New York Line under Cols. Henry Livingston and James Holmes. The name of his wife is not known to descendants living here. He married about 1747, or earlier to 1) Unknown, 2) Elizabeth ___ ; Children: Justus, Mary, Electa, Sarah, Orpha, Ruth, Hannah, Samuel, Isaac, Eli. He died on November 28, 1827, in Athens Township, Athens County, Ohio. He was over 80 years of age when he died. A very strenuous effort to locate his grave failed to find anything; even his descendants cannot tell. He is known to have died at the home of his son Eli on a farm four miles south of Athens. If a monument was ever placed, it has crumbled. He brought his family, excepting Mary and one other child who remained in New York, to Athens County, Ohio in 1805.
